Meet the Brown Family. I’ve been photographing their beautiful children for almost 5 years, but usually under much different circumstances. We met today to create a whole family portrait for them, one that would include their sweet baby, two-year-old, Yvelis. It has only been four months since she passed, and somehow they must do whatever they possibly can to make things normal again, especially for big sisters, Ariana and Mia.

A few months ago, a dear friend sent me an article about a photographer who created a loving tribute to a family who had lost 2 of their children (read the article here). When I read it I immediately thought of Luisa and her family. Each year as Yvelis would’ve grown, she can be added to their family portrait with the help of Photoshop. If there was only one thing I could do for this family, this was it.

But with with all of sadness they’ve been reeling with, I didn’t want this session to feel that way too. So I stuffed my camera bag full of candy and treasures, ready to make those kiddos right at home with my shenanigans and bribery – I even had a few choice words to crack smiles from mom and dad too 😉

I am thankful that I could contribute to their grieving process in some way, and that peace and love surround them always.

In Loving Memory of
Yvelis Ann Brown
